Pitching limit changes for REC leagues (REC Only)

2009-05-14

Due to all the make up games and teams playing multiple games per week the REC pitching rules are temporarily changed. Open/Competitive rules do not change.

Due to all the make up games and teams playing multiple games per week the REC pitching rules are temporarily changed. Open/Competitive rules do not change.

Temporary Change (remainder of season) to REC pitching rules due to number of make up games scheduled.

12 and under -- players may pitch 2 innings per game without any rest period;
13 and older -- players may pitch 3 innings per game without any rest period; and
Daily innings pitch limits still apply, except the 9 yr old limit is raised to 4 innings in one day.

There is no mandatory rest period for pitching 2 days in a row as long as the above limitations are met.

Examples:
If a player pitches more than these limits they must rest 1 full day (by date), thus if you pitch 4 innings Tuesday, you may not pitch again until Thursday (Wed is the day of rest). If you have a double header you can pitch 2 (or 3 for 13 and up) innings in both games but can not pitch more than the daily inning limit in that day(ie. 6 innings for 10s or 4 innings total for 9s).

This change is to help out teams with limited pitching, however, Coaches, the players come first, you should do every thing possible to limit a players pitch count per week to the USA Baseball recommendations in our rules. Thus if your pitcher throws 80 pitches in 2 innings you should not pitch them again, would not be a rules violation to do so, however, you should not.

Parents please keep this in mind as well, nothing at this point in their baseball life is worth getting hurt for. Remember arm pain is not normal.
