Baseball Done Right

We do take this matter seriously.  The BAYB board or managers have already had to ask coaches to step down, and parents to watch from the parking lot, or simply stay in their car.  This is unfortunate for all, but mostly for their own children or grandchildren.

We can not expect our kids to learn to play with sportsmanship and respect, if we can not do so.  Most of us understand this and I thank all of you for your efforts in refraining from improper behavior.  Even though only a relatively few cases have gotten out of hand thus far, it is already more than in previous years. Thus our concern and focus.

In discussions with most of our adults acting out, it appears that lack of communication is the issue.  Parents or coaches making assumptions and allowing their frustrations to build to a point they have to lash out.  We all need to talk about issues before they reach this point.  Parents should feel free to talk with their childs coach.  Coaches should be open to talking with parents. Coaches should feel free to talk with our staff, each other, and umpires at appropriate times.    All should have similar goals, improvement of players, team, and leagues. There will always be differences of opinions, especially when a parent's main concern is their child, a coach's is 12 children, and the league's is over 1700 kids but  as adults we should be able to discuss those differences at appropriate times and without attacking each other.
