Coach's Certifications
For 2010 Recreational League Coaches now have to complete mandatory Coaching Certification Programs (ASEP or PCA pending age group) with continuing education requirements annually.
For 2010 the PCA course is considered continuing education for coaches that completed the ASEP course already. Please click the "Seal of Commitment" below for instructions and discount code for PCA course. The courses are available online and at reasonable pricing. See requirements below:
For 2010 Season Open (Competitive) League Coaches BAYB will still accept NYSCA, Doyle, but highly recommends the new certification courses discussed below. BAYB will not host NYSCA or Doyle coaches clinics in 2010.
Also for 2010 each team must have one coach with CPR and AED certification. ASEP and BAYB have partnered together to provide the most convenient and cheapest CPR/AED training and certificationa available.
Recreational Coaches working with athletes 10 years old and younger must complete the Coaching Youth Baseball Online Course unless completed within the previous 3 years. BAYB strongly encourages all other coaches complete this course at least once during their tenure as a coach within the BAYB organization. If you are a returning coach and have completed the "Coaching Youth Baseball" course you are required to take one of the courses below for 2010 [(Positive Coaching Alliance) or the more advanced ASEP courses].
Recreational Coaches working with athletes 11 years and older must complete either the ASEP Coaching Orientation Online Course ; the Coaching Youth Baseball Online Course ; OR Positive Coaching Alliance Training. Please click the "Seal of Commitment" below for instructions and discount code for PCA course. BAYB strongly encourages these coaches to complete the ASEP Coaching Baseball Technical and Tactical Skills Course also.
All coaches must have continuing education on a recurring annual basis. BAYB may host various trainings and clinics, however any of the online courses above, Positive Coaching Alliance, and other courses will be acceptable means of continuing education.

CPR/AED
BAYB requires that all board members and at least 1 signed coach from each team hold current CPR/AED certification and strongly recommends that ALL coaches, umpires, concession workers, and parents become trained in CPR and learn how to use an AED machine. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, baseball leads all team sports in deaths of children between ages 5 and 14. It’s easy to get CPR/AED certified with ASEP’s new CPR/AED for Coaches program.
Step 1 – Take the “Part A” CPR/AED for Coaches online course which shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours.
Step 2 – Attend the “Part B” 1-hour clinic administered by a certified CPR/AED instructor. The best part is that the Part B is FREE, courtesy of BAYB.
