BAYB Announces the Return of American Legion Baseball to BA!

BAYB has converted the former 15-18 year old recreational league to the 16U and 18U 2008 American Legion Spring League. Players may register individually or teams may join.

Additionally a new 14U American Legion division has been added. For 2008 BAYB will still offer 14U Rec and 14U Open division play.

While changes are limited for the 15-18 yr old game there are differences between the 14U Rec, 14U Open, and the 14U American Legion divisions.

Primarily the Legion playing field will be regulation (90 foot bases and 60'.6" pitching distances.)

For complete league rules visit our website and review the 2008 rules (under the coaches corner tab).

As many of you realize, 6A schools have a very limited number of spots on their high school team compared to the number of students enrolled. This leaves many good players with little chance of being recognized and given an opportunity to play at the next level.

With the recent addition of a 14 year old school program,   many kids are being further excluded from this opportunity for things they have no control over (growth rate, puberty, etc.)

While 2008 is just the beginning and we will have some growing pains, BAYB looks forward to having a well established Legion Baseball program that will provide players the best chance to make their school team and a chance for recognition should they not make it. Many scholarships are given to American Legion players every year. In fact in many towns across OK and the country, Legion Ball is your best shot at the next level.     Call us for more details.
